Abortion and Breast Cancer:

On the Susan G. Komen (SGK) website there is a strong statement denying such a link and thus freeing the organization to continue to fund abortion and anti life organizations.
And yet:
  • One of the proponents of the “no abortion/breast cancer link” crowd has now changed her tune.  U.S. National Cancer Institute researcher Dr. Louise Brinton, who was the chief organizer of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) workshop in 2003 that persuaded women that it was "well established" that  "abortion is not associated with increased  breast cancer risk," has reversed her position and now admits that abortion and oral contraceptives raise breast cancer risks.  "LifeSiteNews Jan 10th 2010
  • There is overwhelming and well documented research that links abortion to breast cancer, as is evidenced by the 29 out of 39 world wide studies.  This connection between abortions and breast cancer must be revealed to all women as part of any breast cancer education programs.
  • The United States Catholic Conference of Bishops has released a pamphlet entitled “Abortion & Breast Cancer: The Link That Won’t Go Away”  - this would be a great addition to your church bulletin board!
  • The National Catholic Register in 2007 published an excellent article by none other than Susan Wills, a member of the US Bishop’s Secretariat for Pro-life Activity, addressing this very issue, in which she states: “Unfortunately,  for some groups, when it comes to breast cancer, it is “Selective Awareness” month.  The National Cancer Institute (part of the National Institutes of Health) and some groups with an interest in “reproductive rights” or breast cancer research are keeping women in the dark about two risk factors for breast cancer: induced abortion and hormonal contraception. The chief reason women are not being informed of these risks is not a lack of evidence. It is an epidemic of political correctness.”
  • A study by Right to Life of Indianapolis shows without a doubt that SGK is funding Planned Parenthood:  See the Northeast Ohio Chapter’s connection!
  • The Susan G. Koman National organization is most definitely supporting abortion with your donations to “The Cure”.  Watch this video with Brad Mather – Executive Director of Life Issues Institute in Cincinnati.

Contraception and Breast Cancer:

There is also a strong connection between Oral Contraceptives and pre-menopausal breast cancer.
  • Even the Mayo Clinic magazine has published an article about this undisputable link.
  • As recently as 2009 the link between abortion and breast cancer was confirmed in a paper by well respected researcher Angela Lanfranchi MD.  LifeSiteNews reported that according to Lanfranchi, “52 years of research has pointed to the fact that abortion, as well as hormonal contraceptives, can significantly increase the risk of breast cancer.”
  • Whenever you note the innocuous “Family Planning” or “Reproductive health” on a grant recipients website of as part of their grant description you can be sure that this means handing out breast cancer causing birth control drugs or offering or referring for abortions.

And What About prevention?

Planned Parenthood has received millions of dollars from SGK.  In fact Planned Parenthood received hundreds of thousands of dollars from SGK in 2009.  All mind you in the name of providing "prevention” services.   Really!  Pro-Life Action League has now irrefutable evidence that Planned Parenthood does not have the means in their    facilities to do mammograms!

Not to beat a dead horse or anything… but does this not seem to you that the SGK organization needs to take a serious look at their agenda?  You cannot award grants to organization, who on the one hand offer breast cancer inducing services – abortion and “family planning” (aka contraception) services – while claiming to be “educating” and “screening” for the very disease they are selling in the next room.  This  is NOT the way to cure this deadly disease. Northeast Ohio Susan G. Koman

If you are dressing up in pink this year to support SGK do you know where your donations will go? As mentioned in our cover article, when you give to charity there is duty to ensure that the dollar you give is not being traded or substituted for a cause that is contrary to your values – i.e. what is the fungibility trail of your donation? Is your dollar freeing up funds from the grant recipient so that the organization is able to now invest in an activity/service that is against your principles – such as abortion or the promotion of a liberal theology that is tainted with “an end justifies the means” mentality?

Please note the following local Susan G. Komen connections to abortion and contraception minded groups and lets use the "sniff test" to see if these organizations pass fungiability.

On the SGK list you will find the following:
(For the full 2011 & 2012 grant list click here.)

Canton Community Clinic.

In 2011/2012 this clinic is to receive $36,000 for Breast Health for Breast Health Awareness and Education Programs  (up from 24,000 from SGK in 2010-2011).   This clinic has several great services but we are sure that several of their life-supporting linked partners are unaware of the fact that when you click on the Canton Community Clinic’s  links… guess who pops up right beside their names – yeah Planned Parenthood!  When asked if they would help with an abortion – we were referred to … guess who – Planned Parenthood.  Why would you link your organization to Planned Parenthood unless you see nothing wrong with their core business!

Free Medical Clinic of Greater Cleveland:

In 2010/2011 this clinic received  $29,093 from SGK – go check out this organization – a member of Community Shares whose members include such groups as the LGBT, Planned Parenthood, ACLU and others who are a “who’s who” of the progressive socialist/abotion provider community.  Why would you be a part of a network whose fellow members are a mish-mash of left wing agendas and values which have nothing to do with main stream Ohio!
The Clinic proudly states that in the past 40 years, while it has expanded its services, it has not deviated from it's core services such as providing birth control to young adults.  So... SGK gives breast cancer prevention grants to be used in one room - while the Clinic hands out breast cancer causing drugs in the one next door!

Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Services:

"Mammogram Connection Program"--$80,000  for 2011/2012 and $75,303 in 2010/2011
Their programs include “family planning” which means providing breast cancer causing contraception. Their providers include Neighborhood Family Practice  another  abortion and contraception provider who states on their site that  “The Family Planning program at NFP is a program of the Northeast Ohio Family Health Program, which operates out of the Center for Community Solutions” (CCS) - Yep – you got it again – the CCS send their clients to Planned Parenthood amongst other “family planning” clinics for breast cancer causing drugs and procedures!  The dots continue to connect when you add to this Family Planning Association of Northeast Ohio (a health care clinic site of Center for Community Solutions) another organization that promotes abortion and warns of going to "anti choice" pregnancy centers.  And this is just the tip of the iceberg!

MetroHealth Foundation:

Grants in 2010/2011 were $158,276 and they have again been awarded a grant for 2011/2012  of $135,624  for "Improving Access to Care: Bringing Education, Advocacy and Support Together (BREAST)

All very well – but when this same hospital is performing abortions – is this not a contradiction?  You cannot provide prevention services in one room while creating the problem in another!  And you cannot claim you do not give to abortion providers (as we have heard it claimed by the local SGK director) with evidence such as this!

Trinity Hospital:

Received a grant (2011/2012) for  "Trinity BCCP" of  $51,700 (in 2010/2011 their grant totaled $49,320).  Yet this hospital system,  whose continued support for and links to the Obama Health Care sites throws the sincerity of the hospitals statement that it does not support abortion into doubt.  There is no longer any dispute about the support for abortion and euthanasia in the bill and yet nowhere on the Catholic Trinity Hospital website can you fine the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops statement of opposition to the Health Care bill which states in part “The Catholic bishops opposed final passage because there is compelling evidence that it would expand the role of the federal government in funding and facilitating abortion and plans that cover abortion. “
What you will find however is links to the Whitehouse support for the bill with their erroneous statement that it is a “myth” that the bill pays for abortion.  In fact abortion coverage is included in the bill as evidenced by the USCCB’s statement.  President Obama’s Health Care Agenda must be looked at through the eyes of his track record – a record that is proudly pro-death-in-the-womb.  So while Trinity hospital is involved in breast cancer prevention the SGK grant frees up funds to be used to promote the anti-life Obamacare.

The Gathering Place

In 2010/2011 this group received a grant of $40,000.   Remember we mentioned money going to groups who are not in sync with many Christian Churches?  One of them is the “The Gathering Place”.  This organization relies heavily on Guided Imagery, Tai Chi, Yoga, Massage, Reiki, Reflexology, Labyrinth Meditative walks (most of these methods are from Chinese/Hindu/Buddhist spirituality).  Interestingly enough there does not appear to be any mention of a Christian presence in this hodgepodge of spiritual healing methods.  Catholics United for the Faith describes one of the above practices thus:  “Reiki has foundational beliefs and practices that are irreconcilable with Catholicism….” The Vatican and the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops agree.  In 2009 they released a statement that confirmed that Catholics should not participate in this practice.  The document concludes, "Since Reiki therapy is not compatible with either Christian teaching or scientific evidence, it would be inappropriate for Catholic institutions, such as Catholic health care facilities and retreat centers, or persons representing the Church, such as Catholic chaplains, to promote or to provide support for Reiki therapy."  So why would Catholics give to an organization who relies heavily on anti-Catholic spiritual methods of worship?
